| When you think of building, you always think of pylons, bricks, cement, glass, scaffolding, cranes, bulldozers, or heavy industrial machinery. But this is not always the case. New methods of building are being developed that dont use girders or cement, but individual atoms. Engineers can now manipulate single atoms to create tiny machines and things that can be used in new and exciting inventions. |

| Can you imagine a robot the size of a blood cell that swims around in your blood stream, detecting and destroying cancer cells? |
 |
| Can you imagine a super-computer that fits into an earring? |

|
| Both of these wild ideas and more may become reality in the next 15-30 years! |

| Nanotechnology is the study of tiny particles that would be used for these constructions, and how to make the constructions themselves, and what properties and potentials these machines could have. |
